Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called on PDP members in the state against circulating gossips and rumours among their colleagues.

The governor made the call while presiding over the  PDP stakeholders'  meeting today held at the Government House, Sokoto.

He said the meeting was convened to dispel some subsisting insinuations of an imaginary rift among the party leaders in the state.

He stated that such mischievous, unsubstantiated and dangerous rumours being circulated to create doubts in the minds of the masses of Sokoto state against the party.

He called on the people to ignore such malicious rumours as the leadership of PDP in the state is very united, focused and alive to their responsibilities.

He further averred that they are doggedly committed to diligently working to win the forthcoming general elections in the state and at the national level.

Governor Tambuwal reminded the audience that right from the inception of his administration, he maintained an open door policy of accommodating useful opinions and inputs.

He noted that this was being assured irrespective of any political party affiliations from citizens of Sokoto state towards moving it to greater heights.

He then stated that he has shunned gossips and rumours which are counterproductive.

He, therefore, solicited the continued unity and cooperation of party members for a landslide victory in the 2019 general elections.

In his own contributions,  former governor Attahiru Bafarawa restated the unity of PDP in Sokoto state.

He emphasized his closeness to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is in the best interest of Sokoto state and dispelled any rumours of misunderstanding between him and the governor.

" Let me tell you, I don't have any misunderstanding with governor Tambuwal.  We are working hand in hand for the development of the state", Bafarawa added.

He enjoined the gathering to ignore such unbecoming rumours and work towards rescuing the state as being done by governor Tambuwal,  to reposition the economy of Sokoto state, to serve the interests of the citizens.

Bafarawa further reiterated that this can be done through effective mobilization of the electorate of Sokoto state to massively the party's candidates,  at all levels in the nation.

Among the prominent people who attended the meeting include the  State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, party Chieftain,  Alhaji Umarun kwabo AA, commissioners and other top government functionaries,  amongst others.
